Rapid City Comprehensive Plan, SAT Chapters Review

Thank you for taking time to review DRAFT chapters of the Comprehensive Plan.

How to Review? As indicated on the green bar at the top the document, you can click anywhere on the document to comment. You do not need to register/sign in to provide comments. Keep in mind, the anticipated document includes 12 chapters, and this version includes only a portion of those ready for review (bolded below). The other chapters are as follows:

The chronology of the content on pages 5-7 seems disjointed to me - going from 1949 up to the present, back to ancient history and up to the present again, repeating the series of plans the City has done over the years, then to the current update effort. I think the content itself is good and should all be included but the organization of it feels off.

Also, I'm glad that we're being forthcoming about Indigenous peoples' history in the area, but something about this section feels out of place to me. Is this history included here to highlight indigenous peoples' stewardship of the area as a precursor to contemporary Comprehensive City Planning? If so, maybe stating that more directly would tie this historic context into the Introduction chapter better.

These first two paragraphs are redundant with the timeline on the next page. I think it's good info but probably shouldn't be almost word-for-word the same. Personally, I like the timeline format better.
